APPA announced in April 2021 that it is continuing the Key Facilities Metrics (KFM) Survey as a part of its annual Facilities Performance Indicators (FPI) Survey. The KFM was originally jointly developed by APPA and NACUBO to measure energy and electrical use, water consumption, waste produced, and carbon footprint. NACUBO is delighted that APPA has redesigned the KFM survey so that it can be better integrated with the FPI in the future.

Both surveys are currently open and the deadline for both is June 30, 2021.

Previous KFM Results

The Key Facilities Metrics Survey results are available on the APPA website.

Institutions can mix and match their data with over 18 different ratios that include student count, square footage, region, or institutional classification.

For results, log in to www.appa.org, click on Services, and then navigate to Key Facilities Metrics reports. This will take you to a description of the survey and then you can “Launch Dashboards” to create a variety of reports. If you did not participate, you can still review regional and institutional-type ranges.
