ED Releases Clery Handbook Updates
The Department of Education has rescinded its 2016 Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting and released an updated version with a new Appendix. ED stresses that “[t]hough no statutory or regulatory requirements related to Clery Act reporting have changed,” numerous changes to guidance in the Appendix are intended to enhance clarity and flexibility for college and university campuses.
New ED HEERF Compliance Resources Available
The Department of Education has released several new resources to help colleges and universities comply with CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) reporting requirements. Tools include a PowerPoint presentation and webinar recording featuring ED officials. ED also has released a consolidated version of all its HEERF FAQ documents to date. NACUBO members can join us for a Telephone Town Hall on October 23 to hear more about the new HEERF reporting requirements as well as new accounting and legislative updates. Cleaver, Kennedy Release Asset Management DEI Report
Reps. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) and Joseph Kennedy (D-MA) commissioned and released a new report concerning diversity in asset management in higher education. The report highlights why colleges and universities should seek out diverse asset management and help to create a pipeline of more diversity in the asset management industry. The congressmen intend to “use this report to help inform Congress on steps that need to be taken to facilitate greater diversity within [the asset management] industry.
Updated Voter Resource Now Available
NACUBO’s state-by-state resource with voting information for the November 2020 elections has been updated to include the most recent voting information in each state as of October 6. Each state-specific one-pager details how, when, and where to vote in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. NACUBO encourages all colleges and universities to share this resource with their campus communities.
