Fiscal 2020 and 2021 have tested all aspects of endowment management:  College leaders and board members faced a volatile market, students and faculty clamored for larger endowment payouts, and some are dealing with underwater investments. During this session, endowment investment and governance experts will review guiding
principles of endowments, strengthen your understanding of investment committee membership expectations, help you understand the roles of staff, consultants, and investment policy statements, and discuss strategies for effective
communication with other board members, administrators, and other stakeholders.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand guiding principles, basic structures, and legal requirements of endowments.
  • Define expectations and alleviate frustrations with staff and consultants.
  • Develop strategies for communicating investment committee outcomes to others.
