Overview
In academic year 2020–21, private colleges and universities significantly discounted listed tuition and fee prices for most students, continuing a long upward march in discount rates that only accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, as in-person learning shut down at most higher education institutions, many private colleges instituted new pricing strategies to account for the shift to online and hybrid learning modalities. It is now more important than ever for chief business officers and other campus administrators to evaluate their discounting and pricing strategies and the effects they have on net tuition revenue and college affordability.
This webcast will review the findings of the 2020 NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study, generously supported by Vemo Education. The panelists will provide an overview of the changes in average discounting rates during the 2019–20 and 2020–21 academic years and give more details about the pricing and enrollment strategies private colleges implemented to deal with the effects of COVID-19. You’ll also learn about the complex factors that go into new tuition discounting, enrollment, and financial aid strategies.
